Day 1: Depart Chicago
Canada’s Three Great Cities travelers from the Midwest will meet in Chicago Union Station this afternoon. At 8:00 p.m. you’ll board the eastbound Lake Shore Limited. Departure is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Relax in your comfortable coach seat with leg rest. Roomettes and Bedrooms are available for an additional cost.
East tour members will travel independently to Buffalo, New York, and spend the night.
Day 2: Niagara Falls
Enjoy a delicious dining car breakfast. The Lake Shore Limited arrives into the Buffalo Amtrak Station (located in Depew) at 8:36 a.m. We’ll board our deluxe motorcoach and travel to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Lunch atop the Skylon Tower is included. The view of the falls is spectacular!
Following lunch, we’ll travel 80 miles to Toronto.
Upon arrival we’ll set out on a tour of Canada’s Queen City. We’ll travel through Chinatown and the Bay Street financial district. You’ll see the three City Halls, Eaton Centre, St. James Cathedral, the Parliament Building, the University of Toronto and the CN Tower, one of the world’s tallest freestanding structures.
Our elegant hotel for the next two nights will be the majestic Fairmont Royal York. “On-your-own” dinner opportunities are abundant in and around the hotel.

Day 3: Toronto
Your breakfast is included in the hotel this morning. Today you are free to explore Toronto. You may want to return to places you saw on your sightseeing tour or explore new areas, perhaps have lunch atop the CN Tower or visit the magnificent Art Gallery of Ontario.
Day 4: En Route Quebec City
This morning we will transfer to the VIA Rail station where we’ll board the train for Quebec. Departure is scheduled for 6:40 a.m.
Arrival into Montréal is scheduled for 11:57 a.m. After an “on-your-own” lunch we will board another VIA Rail train at 12:45 p.m. for Quebec City. Upon arrival at 4:26 p.m. we’ll transfer to our home for the next two nights, the famous Fairmont Le Chateâu Frontenac.
Day 5: Quebec City
Breakfast is included in our hotel. This morning we will embark on a sightseeing tour of beautiful Quebec City, including such points as the Old Quebec section, the fortifications, Battlefields Park, Place Royale, the narrow streets, the oldest church and much more.
Lunch is included at the Côtes-à-Côtes in the Petit Champlain historic area.
Following lunch we will visit the renowned Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré set along the Saint Lawrence River.
We’ll also visit Montmorency Falls. The falls are at the mouth of the Montmorency River where it drops over a cliff into the Saint Lawrence River 275 feet below.
We’ll return to our hotel where you’re free to continue exploring this beautiful hotel and city.

Day 6: En Route Montréal
Following breakfast in the hotel we’ll transfer to the VIA Rail Station in time for the 8:05 a.m. departure for Montréal. Arrival is scheduled for 11:22 a.m.
You will have time for an “on-your-own” lunch at the station prior to boarding a motorcoach for a sightseeing tour of beautiful Montreal.
This tour will take in over 200 points of interest including Notre Dame de Montreal (the most magnificent of French-Canadian churches), Old Montreal, the French Quarter, McGill University and a view of this great city from an observation point atop Mont Royal.
Following our tour we will check into the third magnificent Fairmont hotel on this tour, the Queen Elizabeth, one of Montréal’s premier hotels.
Day 7: Montréal
A full breakfast is included this morning at the hotel.
You’re free today to shop on nearby St. Catherine Street or to visit Montreal’s various attractions. The Tour Director will lead those interested in an optional visit to the acclaimed Botanical Garden of Montreal. The 180-acre complex contains more than 26,000 varieties of plants within 30 gardens and 10 exhibition green houses. Included are the Chinese Garden, the Japanese Garden and Pavilion and Montreal Insectarium (Collections of butterflies and other exotic insects from more than 100 countries).
Should the weather be inclement (or not), it is possible for you to have a great time during your day and a half in Montreal without ever going out-of-doors. Montreal is probably the most weatherproof metropolis in the world. The ever-expanding underground city soars upward, downward, and sideways around our hotel and beyond. You’ll have access underground to more than a thousand boutiques, major department stores, and more than 125 restaurants and bars, movie theaters, art galleries, and more.
You can enjoy one of the many great dining options near our hotel.
Day 8: En Route
We’ll take our hotel elevator down to the station where we’ll board Amtrak’s
Adirondack in time for its 10:20 a.m. departure for Schenectady.
Relax in your comfortable reclining coach seat. Feel free to explore the train. You’ll find sandwiches, snacks and beverages in the Café Car.
The Adirondack has been nominated by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as one of the world’s ten best rail trips. Lake Champlain, America’s sixth largest lake will begin to dominate the scenery to the east with the famed Green Mountains of Vermont providing a scenic backdrop. To the west are the beautiful Adirondacks.
Further south we’ll pass through Saratoga Springs, onetime retreat for the rich and famous.
East tour members will continue to Albany, New York, where they will overnight and continue to home destinations tomorrow.
Midwest participants will board the Lake Shore Limited in Schenectady, New York at 5:27 p.m. They’ll enjoy the same reclining coach seats with leg rest they enjoyed on their eastbound trip. Sleeping accommodations are available at an additional cost. Dinner is included on the Lake Shore Limited.

Day 9: En Route
East travelers will transfer to the Albany train station in time for the 9:00 a.m. departure to New York’s Penn Station where they’ll transfer to home destinations.
Mid-westerners will arrive into Chicago at 9:45 a.m. on the Lake Shore Limited. They’ll continue on to home destinations throughout the day.
