Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Chicago
Our All Aboard for San Antonio and New Orleans tour members will meet the Tour Director in Chicago’s Union Station where we will board the Texas Eagle for San Antonio. The Eagle features and the double-decker Superliner equipment.
Relax in your comfortable reclining coach seat with leg rest. Roomettes or Bedrooms are available at an additional cost. All dining car meals are included beginning with dinner this evening.
You may want to go to the Sightseer Lounge car for some refreshments and good conversation with your fellow tour members.

Day 2: En Route / San Antonio
This morning our train rolls through eastern Texas in a straight line, due west, past small farms and pine forests. We arrive in Dallas late morning and Fort Worth early afternoon. You’ll have time for a brief trainside walk in Fort Worth. We’re scheduled to arrive in San Antonio late evening. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer to our hotel, the Drury Inn Riverwalk.

Day 3: San Antonio
Enjoy a Drury QuikStart® breakfast. You’ll want to spend time this morning exploring the quaint shops and galleries along the world-famous River Walk. A river cruise is an option.
Our sightseeing guide will greet us at noon. She will share with us her knowledge of historic San Antonio. We’ll embark on a San Antonio city tour by motorcoach.
A high point of the afternoon will be a visit to the Alamo, perhaps the most sacred of the America’s historic shrines.
Our afternoon also includes a lobby tour of the historic Menger Hotel and a visit to the Mexican Market.
Our tour will conclude at a Luby’s restaurant for an included dinner.
Following dinner we’ll visit the 750-foot-tall Tower of the Americas. The tower was built in honor of the 1968 World’s Fair celebrating San Antonio’s 250th anniversary. The Skies Over Texas is a sophisticated ride that takes visitors on a high-flying trip across the Lone Star State in the 4-D theater. The tower offers the most breathtaking view of San Antonio, especially the Alamo.
At 10:00 p.m. we’ll transfer to the Amtrak station where we’ll board the second of our three famous trains, the Sunset Limited. Relax in your comfortable reclining coach seat with leg rest. Roomettes and Bedrooms are available at an additional cost.(April tour)
October tour will spend the night in San Antonio and board the train the next morning.

Day 4: En Route / New Orleans
(due to time change on the Sunset Limited October tour members will board the train at 6:45 this morning and arrive into New Orleans at 9:49 p.m.)
Enjoy a full-course dining car breakfast this morning. Then, head for the Sightseer Lounge to enjoy the scenery of eastern Texas and western Louisiana. Rice and sugar cane fields and the swampy bayou country of Louisiana are the primary attractions. Then it is time for lunch. Our arrival into New Orleans is scheduled for 2:55 p.m. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer to our French Quarter hotel, the Bienville House Hotel.
The rest of the day you’re free to rest or pursue those activities that are of particular interest to you.
You’re in one of the most attractive cities in the world. Take full advantage of all there is to see, to do and taste.

Day 5: New Orleans
Following a Continental breakfast in our hotel, we’ll embark on a two-and-a-half-hour sightseeing tour of the Greater New Orleans area. The tour will include the St. Louis Cemetery III where the above ground burial system will be explained; beautiful City Park, the Lakefront area, the uptown section with its antebellum and new homes, Tulane University, Audubon Park, the French Market, and the Old Mint.
Early this afternoon we’ll transfer to Union Station prior to the 1:45 p.m. departure of the northbound City of New Orleans. Relax in your comfortable reclining coach seat or optional private sleeping room. Meals are included including dinner this evening. You’ll want to spend some time reminiscing with your fellow tour members about the great experiences you shared the past few days.

Day 6: En Route to Chicago
After an dining car breakfast, we’ll arrive in Chicago’s Union Station at 9:05 a.m. Tour members will depart for home destinations throughout the day. Those returning to Eastern home cities will have time to take a Gray Line sightseeing tour, to shop or visit some of Chicago’s major attractions.
